FAQ

1. Is there a weight limit for players?

No, our football organization is a member of TYFA, a non-weight restricted league in which teams are divided into age groups.

2. In what weather conditions do we practice and play?

Practices and games will only be canceled in cases where the conditions make travel and situations dangerous. We practice and play in the rain, unless lighting is within 5 miles in distance of the location.

3. How long are practices?

Practices usually vary from one and a half hours to two hours depending on the Head Coach.

4. Do you practice on Saturdays?

There may be practice during some Saturdays if the Head Coach of the team feels necessary.

5. Where are games played?

Games are played throughout San Antonio and surrounding cities. Some travel may be required, but should be limited.

6. How much playing time will my child get?

There is no mandatory play rule in TYFA, but our organization in itself requires all players to play at least four live ball situations given that the players have not been late or missed a practice during the week prior to the game. Players missing a week of practice or more will have to work themselves back into the rotation for games and that may be determined by the coaching staff.

7. Do you have limits on the number of players?

Yes, there is a limited number of spots on the team. The number of spots available are determined by each head coach. Generally the number coincides with their ability to provide the best effort to play and teach the players.

8. When and how long is the football season?

Season begins August 1st and runs through November with playoffs running into early December. It consists of an eight game regular season.

9. Do parents have to be present at practices?

At least one parent or legal guardian is required to be present during practice.

10. Are coaches certified?

Yes, all coaches must be certified through TYFA every year. Any adult that will interact with players or cheerleaders on the practice or game fields will be required to be certified through TYFA.

11. How do I become a coach?

You can apply for a coaching position through our website or by filling out a coaches application. The application will be reviewed by our board members and you will be interviewed for the position.
